A very warm welcome to all our new families. It is hard to believe it is August already. Congratulations to the PTA on the wonderful clothes fair they organised recently, where they managed to raise some money, but most importantly helped many families.
Staff Profiles
It has been a number of years since we have had staff profiles and with many new families starting, we feel it is a good time to share a little about ourselves. Each newsletter, different staff will share their story.
Fintan Kelly – Principal
Personal
I am essentially an Auckland boy having grown up in Hillsborough. My parents are Irish and both still alive, mum is in a rest home and dad lives on his own close to mum and family. I have eight siblings and a very large extended family. I have been married to my wife, Brenda for 30 years and we have three children, of whom we are very proud. Eilish (23) our oldest lives in Wellington, Regan our son (21) is finishing a computer science postgraduate and our youngest Bridget (19) is in her second year at university.
I enjoy fishing and golf although not good at either.
Professional
I have been a principal for 23 years at various schools in central Auckland. I graduated from teachers college a long time ago but continued my education and completed three Masters Degrees. I really enjoy what we have here at Pakuranga Heights School and all the challenges that come with role.
Traffic
Since the return from Covid lock down the afternoon traffic has been extremely heavy, causing frustration and delay. Schools are subject to the road rules and council regulations so cannot just change signage or entry points. We will be working with the council to try to find some solutions to the traffic issues we are currently experiencing. We ask that you think about walking or parking a little distance away to help.
Please be patient and respect the no parking areas as ignoring these causes significant issues for everyone and you are liable for a fine. Once we have approval for any solutions we will let you know.
